Artist's CV

The elements or principles I use when creating paintings are stylistically simplified.

I find elegance in simplicity. Composition and clarity are important—a sense of "peace" comes when resolution stares back from the picture plane. An uncluttered space helps us breathe easy and think clearly. Less is more and being direct and uncomplicated leaves little more to say.

Optimism can be felt when you experience something which resonates clarity—this is also available within the experience of a painting, which has been skillfully resolved by its own compositional order.  All of these concerns—with a depth of feeling—combined with equal amounts of editing and light heartedness, drives my aesthetic values.

My seamingly simple and shorthanded paintings journey into landscaped narratives. While holding these values in mind, my creative journey parallels these landscape adventures—exploring composition in playful arrangements.

Footnote : A comment from a visitor to a recent exhibition

"I arrived at the gallery in the worst mood possible, suffering from Melbourne road rage. After spending time in the company of these landscapes, I left the gallery smiling and in a perfectly good mood "
