Morten Lassen (b. 1968, Denmark) lives and works in Copenhagen. Lassen’s work pushes boundaries in a relentless search to represent the space between reality and that which we cannot touch—the world of infinite data. Undoubtedly an abstractionist, he believes his work is not based on anything particular in the real world. For Lassen, the existentialism of painting has become his oeuvre.

His art is meditative in nature, inviting viewers to see and feel their environment through subtle shifts in structure, colour, and tonal variation. In his most recent work, high-key colour injects a frenetic dynamism into these frameworks, enhancing the tension between calm observation and energetic expression.

Lassen has exhibited widely, including solo and group shows at Nanda\Hobbs (Sydney), Rebecca Hossack Gallery (London, New York, Miami), Galleri Hera (Stockholm), and international fairs in Palm Beach, LA, NYC, San Francisco, Toronto, Miami, Seattle, Hamburg, Singapore, and more. His work is held in collections across Denmark and Australia, including Den Danske Bank, Pfizer, Danske Advokater, KPMG Sydney, and South Yarra Art Collection, Melbourne. Since 1995, Morten Lassen has received several notable grants and honours, including Den Hielmstjerne Rosencroneske Stiftelse (1999), artist in residence at Sydney Grammar School (2003), and Jyllands‑Postens Scholarship Studio in Berlin (2004).

Over the last two decades, he has exhibited widely across Europe, Australia and North America, with works acquired by major public and private collections—a lasting testament to both his critical and commercial success.
