In Conversation: Anton Forde: Artist Talk
Join Anton Forde at Nanda\Hobbs for his official Artist Talk on Saturday 27 June from 2 – 3pm.
Following the opening of Uranga, Forde will speak about the stories and ancient traditions that have informed his new sculpture exhibition. Carved from granite, greywacke, and volcanic rock sourced from across Aotearoa, the sculptures emerge through a process of attentive making, where material and meaning evolve together.
In conversation with fellow exhibiting artist Brett McMahon, Forde will reflect on his engagement with the materials used in uranga (the glowing light of dawn and dusk that lends the exhibition its title). Balancing formal restraint with subtle narrative tension, his work invites reflection on how we navigate and interpret the built and natural world.
Together, both artists will discuss their individual exhibitions and how their works beautifully co-exist within the gallery.
