Nanda\Hobbs’ 2025 presents a powerhouse lineup of artists, redefining contemporary painting. These are painters with serious exhibition credentials; including institutional gallery exhibitions, finalists in the Archibald, Wynne, and Sulman Prizes, along with major Australian and international art fairs— each with a unique, deeply honed practice.
At the heart of this exhibition is a fascination with paint itself—its physicality, its versatility, its ability to tell both literal and abstract stories. Realism lays the groundwork, but abstraction constantly disrupts, reshapes, and reinvents it. While the show isn’t explicitly about Australia, the work carries an undeniable sense of place, infused with the artists’ lived experiences and cultural touchstones.
