Peter Gardiner Featured in Art Collector Ahead of “Dead Reckoning” Exhibition

We are delighted to announce that Peter Gardiner has been featured in the latest issue of Art Collector, released on the eve of his exhibition opening.

Titled Force of Nature, the article offers a powerful insight into Gardiner’s practice, capturing both the intensity of his subject matter and the singular vision that drives his work. Written by Eve Sullivan, with accompanying photography by Ben Adams, the feature presents a compelling portrait of an artist deeply committed to his painterly language—restless, allegorical, and impossible to ignore.

Living and working on Australia’s south-east coast, Gardiner draws from a lifetime of observing the raw and often violent forces of the natural world. "Equal parts sublime spectacle and civilisational warning,” burning trees glow like lanterns, waves become metaphors for insurrection, and seascapes take on an almost electric, living presence.

The article situates Gardiner as an artist responding not only to landscape but also broader environmental and cultural tensions—transforming scenes of upheaval into works that are both visually arresting and conceptually charged.

Force of Nature appears in Art Collector, Issue 116, and is available now.

Gardiner’s latest exhibition, Dead Reckoning, is currently on view at Nanda\Hobbs until 2 May.
