Ralph Hobbs

Ralph has spent 25 years immersed in the art world, working as a dealer, artist, educator, and writer. He is the co-founder of Nanda\Hobbs, one of Australia’s most dynamic commercial galleries, dedicated to nurturing the careers of many of the country’s most respected mid-career artists. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Art, a Diploma of Education and a Masters in Fine Art and Design, and is an accredited valuer of fine art.

 

Known for his discerning eye and deep knowledge of art history, Ralph brings a sharp understanding of what makes an artwork both collectible and culturally significant. A published author and regular commentator on art and the art market, Ralph maintains a parallel practice as an artist. He works in a variety of media with drawing as a central tenet of his art practice supported by decades of journals chronicling his travels and observations from Europe to the outback of Australia. These visual diaries provide a history and continuum for his ideas and themes. His work is held in private collections internationally and in the National Gallery of Australia.
