2021 Archibald & Wynne Prize... Six finalists. A Packing Room Prize winner.

Six Nanda\Hobbs are finalists in this years Archibald Prize along with one Wynne Prize selection. Jun Chen, Jonathan Dalton, Kim Leutwyler, Kathrin Longhurst, James Powditch and Mathew Lynn were selected for their outstanding portraits—while Jun Chen had double success with a landscape painting also being chosen for the Wynne Prize. 

Kathrin Longhurst has won the Packing Room Prize for her 2021 Archibald portrait of Australian singer, Kate Ceberano. It's the 100th year of Australia's most loved portrait prize and 2021 is the first year there was been gender parity across the 52 artists selected.

Longhurst was described by Art Critic, John McDonald as a "tremendously skilful artist" in his Sydney Morning Herald article about the Archibald Prize finalists on May 27th.  This is the artist's second Archibald Prize selection—she was a finalist in 2018 and in 2012, was selected in the Sulman Prize.

Congratulations to all six artists!

Winners will be announced on Friday 4 June. The exhibition opens to the public on Saturday 5 June and will be on show until 26 September.

Zilinsky, who won the Portia Geach Memorial Award in 2020, said a friend had shown Elordi her work before suggesting he would be a good subject to paint. Zilinsky sketched Elordi, 26, in Stanwell Tops, NSW, on the set of the mini-series adaptation of Richard Flanagan's novel The Narrow Road to the Deep North.
