Mathew Lynn

19 August 2020

Join 16-time Archibald Prize finalist, Mathew Lynn, as he discusses his new body of work, his methodology and his passion for breaking down the elements in society that keep us apart.

Mathew Lynn continues his exploration of place and race in The Silver Expanse— a small body of work that explores the experience of belonging to a place other than where you grew up. The artist does not engage in the idealised exotic—rather, a sense of beauty that transcends all man-made barriers. Painting his muse Faith, Lynn abstracts light in the waters off Coogee beach highlighting the ethereal sensation and mediative nature of water.
