Congratulations to Renata Pari-Lewis and Kate Nielsen, who have been selected as finalists in the 2025 King’s School Art Prize for their respective works, Love and Forgetting and Still Life with Autumn View.
Renata Pari-Lewis’ 'Love and Forgetting' is inspired by the studio of Sydney artist Janet Laurence and her taxidermy owls–silently perched as if bearing witness to her creative process. Renata conveys Laurence’s intimate relationship with her subject matter, and is interested in how particular environments shape one’s emotional experience.
Kate Nielsen’s 'Still Life with Autumn View' captures the quiet rhythm of domestic life, set against the changing mood of the natural world. Her considered use of colour and form renders an interior scene that hums with life—reflecting her ongoing fascination with the way we inhabit our spaces at home.
The King’s School Art Prize is a prestigious and anticipated award within Sydney’s cultural calendar. Established in 1994, the gala event attracts submissions from leading contemporary artists across the country.
The 2025 King’s School Art Prize Exhibition will be open to the public from Thursday, 12 June to Saturday, 14 June.
